There is a definite difference between a Sander Engineering aluminum torque tube assembly and others on the market. Other tubes on the market are made of 6061 aluminum, which is gummy and not as strong as a Sander torque tube. The Sander aluminum torque tube is made from 2024 drawn aluminum and is .188" wall. That makes a Sander aluminum torque tube stronger. Other products may look the same, but when you look closely, you will see that a Sander product is unique! A Sander Engineering torque tube is 3.8 pounds lighter than a steel torque tube. All Sander Engineering torque tubes are 3" O.D. with .188" wall (2.625" I.D.).
